Our Mission

As owners of Burdon Dam, we are preserving this historic 1768 structure.

As owners of Burdon Pond, we are dedicated to restoring this historic pond and rejuvenating the native wildlife and vegetation. Circulation of the water has improved, and the pond was nice and high this spring (2010), feeding the brook to Lily Pond, then Whitin Pond and Meadow Pond. This summer (2010) has brought challenges, though, with the unusual weather (hot with virtually no rain) and additional water withdrawals.

Therefore, we are dedicated to the following:

  • Restoring the natural flow of water both into and out of the Pond.
  • Keeping the Pond free of pollution, so the natural wildlife and vegetation can flourish.
  • Preventing dumping and other alterations to the Pond and its shoreline.
  • Keeping the Pond in as natural a state as possible for (non-power) boating and (catch and release) fishing.
